From the desk of Chamber President Joanie Hannah ...

Fall is officially here and everyone seems to making plans for the Arkansas Apple Festival. The windows in the businesses have been painted with apples and leaves. Ms. Porter did a very nice job. We would like to say thank you to her for her efforts here.

The Chamber will have its cookbook for sale Apple Festival weekend. For those who don't know, this is our second in a series. This year's book highlights the 60th year of consolidation of the area schools. Not only does this book contain great recipes from our local cooks and their families, but there are really neat pictures of the schools from years past, making it a history book, too. These make memorable gifts. We hope everyone makes plans to get theirs. They will be available at the local banks and businesses after Apple Festival weekend.

As you go about your daily lives over the next few weeks, please consider nominations for our next year's officers and board members. January will be the time for the election and our annual banquet. We need nominations for president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, as well as three board members. When considering these nominations, please choose someone who will truly represent you, your business, club or organization and our town. If you have nominations, please call Lynn Thomas at Arvest Bank.

Our next meeting will be on October 9 at the United Pentecostal Chuirch/the Sanctuary, located on U.S. 62 in Lincoln at 6 p.m. The meal will be potluck. Bring your favorite dish and come discuss our business future. This meeting is open to all chamber members or future chamber members, not just board members.

If you need further information, please give us a call. Joanie Hannah, 790-1294 or Lynn Thomas at Arvest Bank.
